Between the two high depolarising layers (probably containing Saharan dust) we find a weekly depolarising layer (particle linear depolarisation ratio < 0.05) probably containing liquid aerosol (cloud drops?). The multiple scattering at the top of this layer in the plot below (greatly enhanced depolarisation), where also the backscatter signal is very strong, supports this assumption.


The MIM/Munich webcam images probably show similar clouds over Munich just above the horizon in the red shining aerosol layer between 19:55 and 20:38 UTC (image times are CEST)
