These quicklooks are generated by integrating the captured spectral data from the specMACS VNIR sensor over the CIE model of the human eye. The result are pictures closely resembling what a human observer would see when looking in the direction of the sensor. In some instances, you will notice an abrupt change in brightness between two single images of this quicklook. These changes are not a measurement artifact, but are due to the high dynamic range of the sensors compared to sRGB color space. To keep as much details visible as posible in conditions of changing brightness, the dynamical range of every single image is adapted separately. The downside of this approach is, that the ocean looks very bright, if no cloud is visible on that image. Note that due to the scanning nature of the sensor, the across-track axis is angular resolved while the along-track axis (time-axis) is linear along the flight track. Therefore the perspective looks a bit different than the perspective of an ordinary camera. This view has not been roll corrected, therefore the image is distorted according to the aircraft movement.
