Velocity vectors and relative vorticity at 500 mb

Contour levels for ζ are: thin contours 2 × 10^-5 s^-1 and 1 × 10^-4 s^-1; thick contours 2.5 × 10^-4 s^-1 and 1 × 10^-3 s^-1. Cyclonic vorticity exceeding 2 × 10^-5 s^-1 in magnitude is shaded pink, anticyclonic values exceeding this value are shaded light blue.
