Tropical Storm Gaston Sep 2010

Track of Gaston

Notation is: L = low, D = depression, S = tropical storm, the cyclone symbol denotes a hurricane.

Wind vectors and contours of the temperature (left panels) and specific humidity (right panels) at selected pressure levels

Temperature contours: interval 1 K. At 850 mb, regions shaded pink have values above 293 K and those shaded light blue have values below 291 K; the corresponding thresholds at 700 mb are 284 K and 282 K, respectively; and at 500 mb they are ???. Specific humidity contours: interval 2 gm/kg at 850 mb and 700 mb, and 1 gm/kg at 500 mb. At 850 mb, regions shaded pink have values above 16 gm/kg and those shaded light blue have values below 12 gm/kg; the corresponding thresholds at 700 mb are 8 gm/kg and 4 gm/kg, respectively; and at 500 mb they are 4 gm/kg and 2 gm/kg. The track in each panel is that of Gaston and the black cyclone symbol indicate the location of the minimum geopotential at the particular pressure level.
